A family connection that became her own career
Read Dr Aladdin story to discover how a family connection to Tāmaki Health grew into a five-year journey of clinical and professional growth.
Starting with Tāmaki Health
I joined Tamaki Health in 2021, during a period of uncertainty and multiple COVID-19 outbreaks. I had been living in Australia and was separated from my family in New Zealand. Tamaki Health was already familiar to me, as my mother had worked there since I was a child. Joining felt like returning to a supportive environment while I considered my next career step.
Growing with Tāmaki Health
My journey has been incredibly rewarding. Over the past five years, I have completed my GP Fellowship and am now finishing my Urgent Care Fellowship. I’ve also expanded my skills in women’s health and contraceptive procedures, taken on leadership responsibilities and, with Tamaki Health’s support, completed a leadership course in 2025. I’m grateful for the opportunities to grow clinically and professionally.
What I enjoy most
Dawson Clinic has a strong sense of family. We celebrate each other’s successes and support one another through challenges, and there always seems to be something to celebrate! The variety of clinical presentations keeps me engaged and challenged, with something new to learn every day. It’s a supportive environment that makes coming to work enjoyable.
Moments I’m proud of
I feel fortunate to have watched Tamaki Health grow, especially given my connection through my mother, who worked there for nearly 30 years. It has been special to see the organisation evolve while continuing to provide an important service to communities in need, particularly in South Auckland. Being part of that journey makes me proud.
Being part of the team
Despite Tamaki Health’s size, working across different clinics never feels distant. I’m always warmly welcomed when I work at other clinics. My Dawson family is especially important to me. Over the past five years, we have grown together, supported one another and developed our clinical skills. This has helped us provide better patient care while making our work more rewarding.
Why join Tāmaki Health?
Tamaki Health offers flexibility, support and a wide range of opportunities. You can work across one or multiple clinics, depending on what suits you, while continuing to develop throughout your career. It’s an organisation that keeps growing and adapting, with friendly teams and a supportive environment in which to build a fulfilling career.
